These are the new shoe's I have bought today, should have been £22 but cost me a mere fraction at £3 ........... just the kind of bargain I like ;-)
I used to be a real shoe freak when I was younger, and I NEVER bought a pair lower than a 4" heel/wedge and I NEVER wore trainers. I'm 5ft 9" in height, so you can imagine how much of a giant I looked in high shoe's lol.
I dont like being tall anymore though, but I think that has a lot to do with confidence, anyone who knew me when I was a teen (esp on the clubbing scene) I was filled with bags of confidence, nothing ever phased me. I think getting older, coupled with weight gain and being a Mum has kinda pulled some of that confidence out of me and turned me into a trainer hugger lol. But in the past few weeks I have been trying to shake some of that off and start wearing clothes more suited to my age (and a bit more femenine) aswell as nail polish on my fingers and toes........... and shoe's instead of trainers :-) and to be honest I feel better for it. I'm also thinking about having another Tattoo done for my Birthday this month and another trip to the hairdressers to have some more red tints in my hair. In short, I think I am having a Mid Life Crisis lol.

Fab shoes and only £3 bargain, I love a good bargain too.
As for the mid-life crisis, I dont think crisis is the right word, I think you are maybe just finding the "YOU" that got buried under being a mum and wife (well as good as) but the real confident, glamorous and outgoing you is still in there somewhere, you are just helping to find her and let her free again and fair play to you too.
I think we all need to do that from time to time.
